Hopkins Collection
The Hopkins Rope Collection was inspired by archival photographs of rope furniture made in the Cote dβAzur in 1940. The collection was fabricated by hand in the Philippines using traditional craft techniques and was made with Abaca, a natural fiber woven into rope that presents a silk sheen and soft texture. Originally this collection was manufactured and distributed by The Wicker Works and is currently being re-issued by Walters, with new all-weather rope for indoor and outdoor use. The Collection won awards at NeoCon and has been published in books and design magazines.

βThe preeminence of design, fabrication or function varies with each object and is determined by the intended use, the materials from which the piece will be made and in large part by the preference of the designer. Residential furniture design in general allows an enormous latitude for personal expression; it is driven far less by strict requirements of function than would be the design of an office chair, for example. The separation of these qualities is a semantic abstraction though, for in great design all are served in the same solution.β
